Real Name: David Whitten
Began Programming in MUMPS: 06 Jan 1982
I'm David Whitten, and have been heavily involved in various MUMPS advancing efforts for a very long time.

I guess this is a time to mention some of these achievements.
Hoping not to look like I am bragging...

a MUMPS programmer since 1982 or so (Sophomore in College), and a FileMan programmer since 1983, and a DHCP/VistA programmer since 1985. I have worked in non-VA related work throughout the since the late 1980s as a contractor or working for contractors including Kirt Walker and Associates, National Health Labs/LabCorp, Dow Chemical, SAIC (on the DoD CHCS project), Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui and Astronaut LLC.

Yes, through the magic of the MUG (MUMPS User's Group), I actually programmed in FileMan before I worked at the VA. As I recall, it was version 15 or so. Those were interesting times, when a 10 Mb Hard Drive was a major (over $3000) investment.

I was a candidate for the board of the M Technology Association.
I have been a representative to the MUMPS Development Committee from several companies, as well as the VAMC Houston.
I was involved in several open source MUMPS implementations, including GUMP (& lilM), and FreeM. I actively use Cache and GT.M.
I helped found the WorldVistA 501(c)(3) non-profit to advance affordable healthcare computing worldwide, where I am currently the Chief Technology Officer and am on the Board of Directors.
I was a Mentor at the first two Paideia conferences.
I have been an instructor at every VistA Education Seminar since its inception.
I am a member of MUMPSter.

Best Wishes,
David
