Post subject:  What the Heck is an Icekat?

My name is Kathy Ice, and I work for Rick Marshall at VISTA Expertise Network doing documentation.

My degree is in International Relations, because I was informed (repeatedly) that an English degree isn't good for anything. Oh, the irony.

My first professional gig was working for Boeing as a secretary, where it was my job to translate Engineer-ese into English to create letters and documents. Then I worked for Wizards of the Coast, editing fiction for their book line. I helped found Alexandria Digital Literature and was executive editor there. Recently, I worked an extensive stint in customer service, and am happy to be back writing and editing things again.

And remember, kids, an English degree isn't good for anything. :)

I've been a fan of documentation ever since Ellen Zufall began working with the Kernel team to try to write down what the software was for and how it worked. Thus I knew how important it is to have a full-time professional documenter working on the VISTA and MUMPS renaissance outside the federal government. I'm so proud that we've been able to bring you onto the team and look forward to all the great documentation you're going to help us create. Where you lead, others will follow, so you also get the opportunity to help define the documentation style of the seventh generation. Thanks again for agreeing to help us with our work.
