Hello there!

I have been programming in MUMPS for 15 years now in Europe, and although i discovered this forum quite some time ago, i just found it again and decided to register. A pity really, because it seems to be a little dead. But hey, better late than never i guess :)

Anyways, i started working in banking with what then was Sanchez (then FIS) solutions, then switched to the healthcare industry with Cache, and here i am still standing. I love MUMPS a lot, the power, speed and flexibility of the database and the language, and after these years i find it to be really hindered by all the abstraction layers, scripting languages, sad attempts at 3rd generation pseudo languages, and absurd methodologies employed nowadays to give it a face wash and sell it to clients. With the trend of NoSQL and Big Data nowadays, i just cannot understand why this is not more looked into. And most of the people that seem to share this opinion are real OG mumpsters from the 80s or so, so i always seem to feel a little out of place wherever i work with front end centered drones ;P

Anyways enough ramblings for now, that is for another post :)

Will be glad to meet whoever is still around here, cheers!

G'day and welcome (a little late). For a nice simple (and reliable) MUMPS implementation, have a look at https://sourceforge.net/projects/mumps/ particularly on the Raspberry Pi Zero W.
