I'm looking to learn MUMPS as a beginner programmer and wanted to find out what books are suggested for someone getting into programming for the first time.

The pocket guide that MUMPS Books publishes is a good overview of MUMPS. If you've never programmed before, it is more like a dictionary than a grammar book. It will tell you what you can do but not how or why you would want to.
